Babes , Starlets , Pinups , And Odd Items of Interest and Influence - In no particular order

Jayne Mansfield, blonde bombshell from the fifties.

New Entry - The US Hillbilly Craze - It really did happen! In the early fifties right up to the sixties, the united states had an odd fascination with hillbilly humor. (The Beverly Hillbillies? Lil' Abner, etc.) The popular magazines of the day routinely ran cartoons mocking hillbilly life and it was commonplace. I guess nowdays we are only left with Jerry Springer, and the midways at the fairs. I still find it odd, myself, and offer these few samples of the hillbilly genre

Lobby Card Art - 1950's. Very Basic but it works well.

Sabrina - Fifties pinup from the UK.One of my favorites.

Pics are from this great Sabrina website http://nylon.net/sabrina/

The NiMo Building in Syracuse. Unfortunatly the company has a stranglehold on power customers here but the 1932 building is still an art deco gem.

Fuel For Inspiration- Classy covers of the forties and fifties repression publications, Magazines and paperbacks. I love this stuff !

Red Baron

Tom Daniels designed Custom Rod. Pictured is theMonogram model kit but the car actually was built. The German thing became popular in the late sixties, after pop culture found a way to make it palatable with such things as Peanuts Snoopy character fighting Red Baron, surfer fashion, hit songs, etc. Why it became popular is beyond me, possibly the Hell's Angels use of the imagery gave it a hipness, that filtered down to what we encountered.
