Doug's Fish Fry Mural & details (in progress) We are currently finishing up one of the most involved murals we have done to date for the original Doug's Fish Fry in Skaneateles. The mural's dimensions are 38 by 6.5 feet , and spans the entire back wall of the newly designed dining room, which opened April 1, 2006. It depicts Clift Park and the gazebo in Skaneateles, and will contain some of the main people connected with the restaurant. (The Skaneateles Press ran a front page story on the mural, and local TV ran a short segment on Channel 9 News, so it's ben a real hit with almost everyone who has seen it. ) The room includes an amazing train track built by Bill Long and his partner J Bates, who did the entire interior through Don Petrocci Construction. Don, Bill, J , owner Mark Edwards, Doug Clark and everyone at the Fry have almost become family to Kathy and I and we thank them all for the stellar treatment we have recieved. The mural has taken approximately 2 months to complete, working monday through thursdays each week. The owners wanted specific people, boats, the band, two airplanes, 2 balloons, an antique truck, and many other details . Each person is treated like a mini portrait, so it is very time consuming, especially considering the place is open 7 days a week. Also, almost all the people we are painting work there...talk about having instant critiques! The challenges have have shown us that we can handle almost any situation given when it comes to mural work. Over 600 digital photos were taken to use as references. I will post the finished mural soon. We are available for commercial and residential work. . Feel free to Contact us at matticeart@att.net for information and availability. |
